Kimono+Distressed Denim+Faux Suede = SASSY!
Is there anything cooler & sexier than a kimono? I love, love kimonos and they have quickly become a staple in my closet because they add just enough spice to an outfit to glam it up or give it a casual, low-key look. They also have an unstated femininity and coolness about them that instantly amp up your confidence and sex appeal naturally.
Hello, beautiful ones! I pray that you’re doing exceedingly well!
It should be a shame to have as much fun as I did styling & wearing this outfit. I think you can tell by the pics that I was also feeling myself! This outfit screams boho-chic, sexy, confident, a little grunge, and sassy! It was exactly the vibe I was looking for, and I’m so grateful my photographer captured it perfectly!

As I was choosing the items to pair with my kimono, I contemplated pairing it with a dark denim skirt with a bit of a military vibe & cute gold buttons on the waist. However, my love for all things distressed denim took over the moment I remembered this cute skirt I picked up at Forever 21, one of my favorite high street fashion stores. After I tried the skirt on with the kimono, it was on & poppin’, and I knew I chose the right one!
Now let’s talk about this fly kimono! I picked it up a few months ago at Forever 21 as well and was chomping at the bit to style it. I was sold the moment I saw its uniqueness with the tuxedo tails design. Can you say DOPE? In fact, while at the register waiting to pay for it I could see me walking down the street with the tails following me just as they are in this picture! Thank God there was a bit of a breeze the day I took these pictures.
I also love the sleeves on this kimono. I’m cold natured so finding one with full-length sleeves is a plus. Not only that, the cuff is made like a blouse and has buttons which are rare in a kimono which typically have flowy batwing type sleeves. As such, I’m able to roll up the sleeves if I want to give the kimono a more casual look.
Over the knee boots came across my mind to pair with this outfit in the beginning, but my beautiful, gray-blue faux suede Mary Jane pumps are one of my fav shoes. And, they played well with the gorgeous blue colored birds in the kimono.
Lately, I’ve been loving rose gold jewelry. So, as I did with the little white dress collaboration, I paired this outfit with some as well. The earrings are in the shape of a leaf and blend well with the florals in the kimono.
Kimonos are a great layering option this fall as we transition our closets to accommodate the temperature changes. They give just the right amount of coverage to ward off the chill of the air in the morning & late evening hours. Plus, they are typically made of breathable materials that provide ample ventilation and keep you cool when needed. The best part about kimonos is that they look good on everyone!
Here’s the best part about styling this kimono for me: my blogging sisters styled one as well! We are scattered across the United States, but we have a loving, sharing bond that doesn’t come along often. I’m so grateful this blogging journey connected us, and I can’t wait for you to see how they styled their kimono. Just click the links below to show them some love!
