GrateFULL4 – Week Ending 09/09/2017
In the last few weeks, the world has experienced monster hurricanes in Houston, Texas (Harvey); the Caribbean (Irma), where it has practically demolished the island of Barbuda; and one of the strongest earthquakes in a century in Mexico that took 61 lives thus far. To say that I am blessed, thankful and GrateFULL to write this week’s GrateFULL4 post is an understatement. My heart goes out to everyone that has been affected by these natural disasters and my continuous prayers are going up for all.
Despite the devastation we’re witnessing, and some are experiencing firsthand, I know that my God, Jehovah, is still in control. He is still in the miracle and blessing business, and He is still faithful and loves us beyond measure. My primary reason for writing & sharing my GrateFULL4 posts on the blog is so that I am more aware of how God is moving in my life. The second reason is to remind others how blessed we all are no matter where we are in life or what may be going on. The third reason is to encourage others by sharing my testimony of how God is moving in my life and that of my family. I pray that my posts bless you and move you to participate in journaling about gratitude as well. If so, please, please leave a comment below or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org; I want to hear from and rejoice with you!
Hello, beautiful ones! I pray that you’re doing exceedingly well!
I’m continually amazed at how blessed I am and how much I have to be GrateFULL4 every week. There are so many days that I am brought to tears because I know I’m so not worthy, yet my Heavenly Father continues to bless me in spite of my sinful self.
God’s grace & mercy has blessed me so greatly. I can’t help but have an attitude of gratitude for all that He’s done, all that He’s doing, and what He’s going to do! Trust me when I tell you that HE IS FAITHFUL and that He will give you the desires of your heart if you avail yourself of Him.
So, what is gratefulness? For me, it means to give thanks for every good, and sometimes bad, thing or experience that I have received. So often we are blessed out of the blue due to someone’s kind regard for us. Other times we’ve put some work in on the back side and never expected a blessing, but because of God’s love for us, He blesses us anyway.
Days, weeks & months go by many times before we take a moment to think about how God has moved in our lives. We take these blessings for granted, and typically only say ‘thank you’ when we realize God saved us from something bad. I don’t want that to be me. Hence, GrateFULL4 is my way of staying ever present of the good and the bad that occurs in my life. I pray that you’ll join me weekly to not only read GrateFULL4 but also to chronicle your gratefulness in some way.
With that said, I know things can get crazy so if you missed my last GrateFULL 4 don’t fret; here it is for your reading pleasure :)
This week I’m GrateFULL4:
- Visits from my family! My baby girl, Jasmine, surprised me big time Friday by knocking at my door around 8:00 pm EST. I spoke with her earlier in the day and she was supposedly heading to Georgia to see her sister. However, it turned out to be a ruse because she was really on her way to see me! Click this link to view her Facebook Live Video as she surprised me. I’m ever so GrateFULL4 that my children and I have a loving, respectful, caring, thoughtful relationship!
- Properly prepared flavorful vegetables! There is a saying that you don’t know what you have until it’s gone or you can’t get it. This is so true! For almost 2 weeks we were unable to obtain good, fresh, seasoned, and properly prepared vegetables while traveling. Every meal we ordered was absent of any type of veggie unless you count french fries as a vegetable; I don’t. Most of the local restaurants we visited while in the Bahamas had very limited menus and for those that did have a decent menu that included vegetables simply did not have a good variety and had no idea how to season them properly for an enjoyable dietary experience. I’m am GrateFULL4 the variety of restaurants in the States that offer nutritional, flavorful vegetable options.
- Oh Henry! candy bars! I am not a big candy eater so for me to be overjoyed about another candy is totally out of character for me. But, I am thoroughly enjoying my new discovery. I still can’t believe in all my years I never tried an Oh Henry candy bar until a week ago. I have been missing some seriously yummy goodness with just the right amount of chewy, peanut goodness, milk chocolate, fudge, & caramel. I have no clue where to buy these here in the states and for that my waistline and teeth are GrateFULL!
- Water only washing! My natural hair journey has been amazing and I’m loving my hair even more. However, the game changer for my routine and the health of my hair was when I started water only washing in 2015. I didn’t plan to stop this routine in 2016, but after a 10-day cruise and loads of sea water in my hair I began using shampoo & conditioner again. My hair still thrived, but not the way it did with water only washing. So, I’m back to water only washing and my hair couldn’t be happier. It’s retaining moisture much better and the curls are plumper and more defined. Now if I could only get my scalp to be as happy! Regardless, I’m GrateFULL4 for the simplicity and the ability to easily re-adopt this cleansing method for my natural hair.
What are you GrateFULL4? Tell me in the comment section below. I can’t wait to rejoice with you!
