GrateFULL4 – Week Ending 08/05/2017
I am so GrateFULL4 for the opportunity to write another weekly post about gratitude. I pray that my posts bless you and move you to participate in journaling about gratitude as well.
Each week, I’m constantly amazed at how blessed I am and how much I have to be GrateFULL4. I can’t tell you how many times I am brought to tears because I know I’m so not worthy, yet my Heavenly Father continues to bless me in spite of my sinful self.
Hello, beautiful ones! I pray that you’re doing exceedingly well!
God’s grace & mercy has blessed me so greatly. I can’t help but have an attitude of gratitude for all that He’s done, all that He’s doing, and what He’s going to do! Trust me when I tell you that HE IS FAITHFUL and that He will give you the desires of your heart if you avail yourself of Him.
So, what is gratefulness? For me, it means to give thanks for every good, and sometimes bad, thing or experience that I have received. So often we are blessed out of the blue due to someone’s kind regard for us. Other times we’ve put some work in on the back side and never expected a blessing, but because of God’s love for us, He blesses us anyway.
We can go days, weeks & months at times taking things for granted, and will only say ‘thank you’ when we realize God saved us from something bad. I don’t want that to be me. Hence, GrateFULL4 is my way of staying ever present of the good and the bad that occurs in my life. I pray that you’ll join me weekly to not only read GrateFULL4 but also to chronicle your gratefulness in some way.
With that said, I know things can get crazy so if you missed last week’s GrateFULL 4 don’t fret; here it is for your reading pleasure :)
This week I’m GrateFULL4:
- A man in my life who is 100% invested in & loves his children! The picture below was taken one Sunday morning as we were getting ready for church. Seemingly, one would think that all men should teach their son, if they have one, to properly tie their tie. However, there are so many men who are not involved in their children’s lives, let alone taking them to church to build a spiritual foundation. I snapped these photos because I wanted to share them with my boyfriend and his son because it was a profound moment for me. It wasn’t as if I had never seen him helping his sons, but on this morning, it hit home to me how important this small expression of love, care, discipline, and concern means in both of their lives. His son, at a tender age of 19, may not recognize the importance of this moment, but as he matures he’ll come to understand the impact this moment had in his journey to manhood. Yep, I’m eternally GrateFULL4 for this man’s presence in my life, but more importantly in his sons’ lives.
- Excellent doctors, great medications, a positive prognosis, & the healing mercy of God! My youngest daughter has had a myriad of digestive problems for some time. About a week ago she visited her gastroenterologist because she was having symptoms of h pylori again. It turns out the specialist needed to dig a little deeper to make sure her pancreas wasn’t the culprit. So, she underwent an outpatient surgical procedure this past Thursday. She came out of the procedure with no issues, praise God, and her pancreas is functioning as it should. She does have to deal with some other matters, but they are manageable with lifestyle changes, and medication will heal them. We are so GrateFULL4 for this prognosis, her beautiful life partner who was with her as she underwent the procedure, and God’s hand on both her and the doctors as they performed the surgery.
- A healthy, delicious way to minimize anxiety! For the last few weeks, I’ve been dealing with a bit of anxiety. It typically hits me at times when I should be calm, happy, and frankly, out of the blue. For example, I was enjoying the day with my boyfriend, and as we were heading to our destination, I felt my tummy tightening up for no apparent reason. It eventually passed, but I realized that one of the reasons for my anxiousness is the pressure I put on myself to deliver quality editorial content on a consistent basis. The moment I missed a self-imposed deadline, I wonder how my readers will react. I become fearful that I’m letting you all down and that I’ll start to lose your support. In other words, I am trying to do things in my power instead of letting go and letting God. So, today, instead of getting worked up because I hadn’t completed this post yesterday as I would have liked to, I made me a cup of Organic India Tulsi Tea with a dollop of local orange blossom honey from HoneyComb Heroes, a veteran owned business in Stafford, VA. Guess what? I calmed down a bit and was able to not only create this post but also complete the writing of my post for Tuesday! I am so GrateFULL4 the healing power in this tea!
- A break from it all! I have been working almost every day of the week since December 2016. It has become quite exhausting. The hard part for me is finding the time to create my content in batches so that I can schedule my posts. I’m not quite there yet, but I know, in time, I will make this happen. In the meantime, I needed a break to regain clarity, balance, and live life fully. I took a day off this weekend and had a great time. In fact, I went to see the movie Girls Trip, enjoyed a leisurely, delicious dinner at Busboys & Poets in Hyattsville, MD, and slept in later than usual. Sometimes we have to stop everything so that we can do everything we want. I’m so GrateFULL4 this realization and the ability to make it happen!
What are you GrateFULL4? Tell me in the comment section below. I can’t wait to rejoice with you!
