How to Fashionably Wear A Men’s Dress Shirt!
Hello beautiful ones! I pray that you’re doing exceedingly well!
Didn’t the month of June just start? I am completely shocked that it is officially half way over. I mean, it has flown by like a speeding bullet. In fact, I had a conversation with God the other day asking Him to slow it down a bit for me because I have so much to get done in the next few days. Yep, I’m heading to my 1st blogger’s conference, BlogHer17, in Orlando, Florida, next week. Woot woot…I’m so freakin’ excited and overwhelmed at the same time because…well, I don’t know what to expect but can’t wait to get there to take it all in. However, I still need to finalize the breakout sessions I plan to attend, start packing, & a gazillion other things. To top things off, I need to do something for my sweetie for Father’s Day. Yep, I need a nice little reset button or at least an extra 4-8 hours in my day to get everything done without feeling totally rushed.
Thanks for letting me get that out; I feel so much better. Now on to the topic at hand: how to fashionably wear a men’s dress shirt. Believe it or not, I have never really worn men’s clothing, other than my guy’s t-shirt or shorts around the house or maybe a tie to jazz up an outfit. I am so glad my blogger friend, Kamille Garcia of SimplyStreetchic.com, suggested this idea for our collaboration in honor of Father’s Day. We couldn’t keep this to ourselves so we invited another one of my blogger friends, Katlyn (Kat) Pierre of BeautiesBeholder.com to participate too. I had a blast styling my boyfriend’s shirt because:
- It took me out of my comfort zone.
- It helped to strengthen my creativity.
- I honored my Dad in a unique way.
In case you didn’t know it, my dad died in November of 2009, so Father’s Day in the past has been tough for me. This year I chose to not be sad (click here to learn more about my decision) and styling this shirt was very healing!
Staying sad is a choice. If you’re ready to live life & claim your joy you have to choose to be happy; it’s really all about choice.
I really wanted to wear this shirt as a dress, but it wasn’t long enough for what I wanted to do. Then I remembered this awesome faux leather crop top that I have been dying to wear. It was a match made in heaven. But, I wasn’t satisfied. I had to find something to make it POP. I pulled out these old faux suede heels from JustFab and I knew I was on to something. The icing on the cake was this gorgeous multi-colored purse that made the red in the shoes & in the design of the crop top more vibrant. It was on & popping from there! I think I did an excellent job; what do you think: Hit or Miss?
The key to styling a men’s dress shirt is to make it your own, wear it with confidence, & add awesome accessories! Go Slay my sister!
