How to Fashionably Wear A Men’s Dress Shirt!

Hello beautiful ones!  I pray that you’re doing exceedingly well!

Didn’t the month of June just start?  I am completely shocked that it is officially half way over.  I mean, it has flown by like a speeding bullet.  In fact, I had a conversation with God the other day asking Him to slow it down a bit for me because I have so much to get done in the next few days.  Yep, I’m heading to my 1st blogger’s conference, BlogHer17, in Orlando, Florida, next week.  Woot woot…I’m so freakin’ excited and overwhelmed at the same time because…well, I don’t know what to expect but can’t wait to get there to take it all in.  However, I still need to finalize the breakout sessions I plan to attend, start packing, & a gazillion other things.  To top things off, I need to do something for my sweetie for Father’s Day.  Yep, I need a nice little reset button or at least an extra 4-8 hours in my day to get everything done without feeling totally rushed.

Thanks for letting me get that out; I feel so much better.  Now on to the topic at hand:  how to fashionably wear a men’s dress shirt.  Believe it or not, I have never really worn men’s clothing, other than my guy’s t-shirt or shorts around the house or maybe a tie to jazz up an outfit.  I am so glad my blogger friend, Kamille Garcia of, suggested this idea for our collaboration in honor of Father’s Day.  We couldn’t keep this to ourselves so we invited another one of my blogger friends, Katlyn (Kat) Pierre of to participate too.  I had a blast styling my boyfriend’s shirt because:

  1. It took me out of my comfort zone.

  1. It helped to strengthen my creativity.

  1. I honored my Dad in a unique way.

In case you didn’t know it, my dad died in November of 2009, so Father’s Day in the past has been tough for me.  This year I chose to not be sad (click here to learn more about my decision) and styling this shirt was very healing!

I really wanted to wear this shirt as a dress, but it wasn’t long enough for what I wanted to do.  Then I remembered this awesome faux leather crop top that I have been dying to wear.  It was a match made in heaven.  But, I wasn’t satisfied.  I had to find something to make it POP.  I pulled out these old faux suede heels from JustFab and I knew I was on to something.  The icing on the cake was this gorgeous multi-colored purse that made the red in the shoes & in the design of the crop top more vibrant.  It was on & popping from there!  I think I did an excellent job; what do you think:  Hit or Miss?

Have you ever styled a men’s dress shirt?  Do you like wearing men’s clothes?  How are you celebrating the fathers in your life this Father’s Day?  Can’t wait to read your comments below!

  • I love how you styled this look! I don’t speak to my dad so Father’s Day is always rough for me as well. I love how positive you are though. So inspiring, hope the day isn’t too hard for you <3

    • I know all about not talking to your Dad. We went tbrough that as well. It was hard and I encourage you to find a way to get past this if that’s your desire. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow and you don’t want regrets if he passed before you all reconciled. My sister is still dealing with this to some degree and it hurts her heart deeply.

Thank you for your kindness doll! I’ll be praying for you. ?
