Distressed Denim Shorts All Dressed Up!
What do distressed denim, structured blazers, & sky high, sexy platform heels have in common?
They are three (3 ) of my most favorite items of clothing to wear!!!
Hello, beautiful ones! I pray that you’re doing exceedingly well!
I love, I mean love, distressed denim, of any form. Tops, jeans, shorts, jackets, shoes, you name it; it is in my closet! I honestly don’t know when this love affair started, but if I see any form of distressed denim, my wallet opens up as if it has a mind of its own. Seriously, sometimes I think I need a 12-step program to stop loading my closets & drawers with these darn things lol :)

And what’s more: the more distressed the denim, the happier I am! The moment I found these shorts at Forever 21 I had to have them. For one, they have a deconstructed look that gives them the spice that I love. Second, they are not too tight, not too loose. As the baby bear in Goldilocks would say, “they’re just right”!
Another great thing about these shorts is that I didn’t have to have them tailored. Typically, I have to have the waist taken in on almost all of my clothes, but these shorts were PURRFECT! Plus, they’re not too short. I find that a lot of distressed denim shorts tend to be a tad too short for my liking. Don’t get me wrong, I still love showing a bit of skin, but my butt is off limits unless I’m in a bikini or swimsuit at the pool or on the beach.
My second clothing obsession is a structured blazer. As a former corporate employee in management and administration positions, I wore business suits all the time. So, wearing blazers outside the workplace was a no brainer. I began wearing them with jeans, skirts, and other pieces as often as possible when I got bored with the monochromatic, same pattern look & vibe of business suits, and I never looked back!
I found this awesome petite collarless blazer at LOFT while shopping online. And, check it out: it was 40% off!!!! I ordered it online but when it arrived it was a bit big, so I exchanged it at my local LOFT store. The fit is to die for, and the color is gawgeous! Also, the material is breathable, so it’s a great option to have on hand if you’re going to be in a cool environment or when the temps drop in the evening if you are cold-natured like myself.
Not feeling a collarless blazer? Try a bomber jacket instead. It’s collarless, gives off a more casual vibe, & a classic.
And my last, and probably greatest obsession are sexy, sky-high heels. I scored these babies a few months ago when Macy’s had a 40-50% discount with the purchase of 3 or more pairs of shoes. I was so excited to find that the Jessica Simpson collection was in the sale; I so love her shoes. Her shoes are always on point for me regarding design, sex appeal, durability, and quality. Yep, I believe that shoes have sex appeal; don’t you?
I was amazed that these heels look even better in person than in the pictures. Believe it or not, they are extremely comfortable and quite easy to walk in. There have been some heels in her collection in the past that even I had to return because they were simply too high and too uncomfortable to enjoy. I wonder if becoming a mom made her re-think the cut and height of her heels because they are so much more enjoyable now.
But guess what? The impetus for this look was this cute $5 Mickey & Minne tee I scooped up at Wal-Mart. Don’t sleep on Wal-Mart ladies; you can find some pretty nice pieces at the right store in the right location!
Ladies, you can find a few fashion gems at Wal-Mart in select locations. Don’t count them out when looking for trendy pieces!
The great thing about distressed denim pieces and blazers is that they’re both wardrobe staples. They are great foundation pieces to build an outfit. Second, you can dress them up to give them a street-chic polished look with a pair of heels as I did here. Or throw on a cute pair of flats with them or, my fave, Chucks, and you’ve got a chill, laid-back dressed down look. Personally, I could wear distressed denim every day. They are comfy, breathable, fashionable, versatile, and every piece is unique. One thing is for sure: they are a staple in my closet year round.
I dressed this outfit up with a structured leather handbag, simple jewelry pieces that included a lovely silver choker I ordered online from Forever 21. The finishing touches were these bomb Oakley sunnies and my favorite luscious, moisture-rich, color that lasts for days red lipstick by Bite Beauty!
Oh, and my twist-out was the BOMB!!!!
